Oggi propongo un hard-bopper/bluesman di grande talento che negli anni 50 e 60 fu molto attivo come side-man di molti musicisti prestigiosi tra cui Lionel Hampton, Charles Mingus, Herbie Mann, Duke Ellington, Gerry Mulligan, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis orchestra, la Dizzy Gillespie reunion band (1968) e Chuck Israels. Dal 1969 iniziņ a condurre dei propri gruppi.
